Suicide Prevention
A Message From The Founder
As a suicide attempt survivor- I have come to value the importance of therapy, counseling, and the power of support. That’s why at Novara, we take suicide prevention seriously. We have made it our mission to make a difference in the lives of anyone suffering from thoughts and threats of suicide.
We have partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This voluntary health organization gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.
Everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide, and together we can learn the risks and warning signs and encourage those who struggle to seek help. We can enable others to discover their unique gifts. Each life is precious. To anyone feeling isolated in their struggles, you are not alone. You are loved. You are adored. And you matter.
Love,
Reshona- Founder + CEO

The Lifeline And 988
together we can save lives
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
Suicide Can Be Prevented
There are some individual characteristics and things we can do in communities that may help protect people from suicidal thoughts and behavior. There is not as much research about these protective factors as there is about risk factors, but identifying and understanding them is very important.
Protective Factors:
-Coping and problem-solving skills
– Cultural and religious beliefs that discourage suicide
-Connections to friends, family, and community support
-Supportive relationships with care providers
-Availability of physical and mental health care
-Limited access to lethal means among people at risk
